UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS / BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS
The purpose of this course is to equip individuals or employees with the information necessary to recognize potential sites for disease transmission, as well as the skills necessary to prevent it. OSHA guidelines for Universal Precautions are discussed.
Course Objectives:
Understand Universal Precautions and how they help protect from bloodborne pathogens
Be able to identify situations in which there is the potential for disease transmission
Know specific measures that can be taken to prevent disease transmission
Be able to name the major bloodborne pathogens that pose a threat to staff and children
Understand the importance of taking universal precautions
